Hey folks! Let’s get this adventure blog going. Where are some of your favorite rides? Do you have any special tips for the first time touring rookie? What is your essential piece of equipment? Do you have a favorite fuel for on the ride or a favorite place to stop for fuel?
Some of my favorite rides are in Arizona during the cool spring months. Yes, you do need to bundle up a bit, but the month of March in the desert is just amazing when that inch or so of rain falls in February.
The best tip I ever heard was to just have fun. There were times when I spend hours planning a specific training plan, measuring every detail of it, and then racing on weekends. The days were all work and I over did it a bit. Now I just go and ride. I make loose plans and I don’t measure much more than distance and time anymore.
My essential tool is a spoke wrench. A simple multi-tool is nice, but for the most part, those are all available in one way or another. But if you wreck a wheel and need to adjust a spoke to finish the ride, a spoke tool is critical. Especially if you have some of those fancy spokes :)
I love Hammer Nutrition! They are my fuel of choice on and off the bike.
Finally, there is nothing tastier than a carne asada burrito from a taco truck! I wouldn’t recommend this every day, but a good burrito every now and then is just good for the soul!
